Our position

An honest account of where we stand

We are not going to claim that a coal trader is a green company. We will tell you what we are actually building.

The markets we serve — Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam, Indonesia, East and Southern Africa — are adding electricity demand faster than almost anywhere on earth. Coal and ore will supply a large part of that demand for years yet, and pretending otherwise does not help anybody plan.

What we can do is use the balance sheet, the local relationships and the project-delivery experience we already have in those markets to develop generation that displaces thermal load. That is the mandate of this division: build real megawatts, in the same countries, with the same partners.

  • Greenfield solar and onshore wind development
  • Co-development and equity participation with local sponsors
  • Battery storage paired with new and existing generation
  • Captive and open-access supply to industrial offtakers

What we build

Four technology tracks

We develop where the resource, the grid connection and the offtaker all stack up — not where the subsidy is loudest.

01

Utility-scale solar

Ground-mount photovoltaic plants at utility scale, single-axis tracked where the resource and land cost justify it.

02

Onshore wind

Wind farms built on a full on-site met-mast campaign, with turbine selection matched to the measured wind class.

03

Battery storage

Lithium systems sized for firming, peak shifting and grid services, co-located or standalone.

04

Captive industrial supply

Behind-the-meter and open-access generation for mills, cement plants and foundries wanting a fixed long-run power cost.

Process

How a project reaches financial close

We take projects from land control through to commercial operation, either on our own balance sheet or alongside a co-developer.

STAGE 01

Resource & site screening

Satellite and reanalysis data narrowed to a shortlist, then validated on the ground with pyranometers or a met mast.

STAGE 02

Land & grid control

Land secured by lease or option, and a grid connection application lodged with an indicative connection point and capacity.

STAGE 03

Permits & impact studies

Environmental and social impact assessment, community consultation, and the full statutory permit set for the jurisdiction.

STAGE 04

Offtake agreement

A bankable long-term power purchase agreement with a utility or a creditworthy industrial offtaker, or a merchant case we can defend.

STAGE 05

EPC & financial close

EPC contractor appointed on a fixed-price, date-certain basis, and debt raised against the signed offtake.

STAGE 06

Construction & operation

Build out, grid energisation, performance testing, then long-term operations and maintenance under a monitored availability regime.

Working with us

Who this division talks to

We are open to conversations at any stage, from a landowner with a windy ridge to a utility running a tender.

Start a conversation

Landowners & local sponsors

If you hold land with a credible resource and a route to a connection point, we will fund the measurement campaign and take the project forward with you.

Industrial offtakers

Mills, cement works and foundries already buying raw material from us can contract power on a long-term fixed or indexed tariff.

Lenders & co-investors

Project debt, mezzanine and equity co-investment at construction or operating stage, with full data-room access on diligence.

Utilities & regulators

Tender participation, feed-in and auction bids, and grid-support commitments in the markets where we hold a development licence.

EPC & O&M contractors

We pre-qualify contractors by delivered megawatts, balance-sheet strength and the quality of their performance guarantees.

Host communities

Consultation before permitting, local hiring during construction, and a shared-benefit arrangement written into the project company.
